Seychellois scientist Dr. Ameer Ebrahim (@the_fish_dr) shares why Assomption Island is far more than a “stop-over” to Aldabra. ➡️ Its beaches host over 100 nesting green turtles each year - a keystone site for the entire Indian Ocean. ➡️ Its waters shelter seagrass meadows, coral reefs, sharks, groupers, and migrating humpback whales. ➡️ Its location, just 27 km from Aldabra, means any damage or invasive species on Assomption could threaten this UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Outer Islands may feel like a distant land, but they are under Seychellois protection. 💙 Would we want to imagine a world without an Aldabra and Assomption thriving with wildlife?
