From the Caribbean and the Indian Ocean, our Bahamian and Seychellois coalition partners stand united - because some places are too precious to be mere hotel backdrops. Two of the most biodiverse and fragile ecosystems on Earth face irreversible destruction. From the coral reefs and seagrass meadows of the Exumas to the 400+ species of the Aldabra Atoll found nowhere else on Earth, these are not backdrops for a hotel. What is happening in both places is increasingly recognized as ecocide. @saveexumaalliance and @friendsofaldabra are calling on @rosewoodhotels to withdraw from the planned hotel developments at Sampson Cay (Bahamas) and Assomption Island (Seychelles) in a public, written commitment. Rosewood’s brand brings these projects commercial credibility and a veneer of sustainability, actively distancing them from their damaging environmental consequences. Rosewood’s own 2025 Impact & Sustainability Report stands in direct contradiction to what these developments will do to these places. That’s not sustainability. That’s greenwashing. Rosewood must now decide its legacy: withdraw from these destructive projects, or be complicit in their irreversible harm to biodiversity. Where do we draw the line?
