It’s Day 1 of our Aldabra Christmas Series! For the next 12 days, we’ll be showcasing the incredible animals of Aldabra Atoll. Each day, we’ll highlight a species and share fascinating fun facts about them. Stay tuned as we celebrate the wonders of Aldabra together! Today’s animal is the Reef Manta Ray (Mobula alfredi). 🔍Manta Rays are giant, gentle filter-feeders with huge brains, unique belly patterns like fingerprints, and the ability to “fly” out of water. 🦋 Their wingspans can grow up to 5.5 meters (18ft) long and have no sting. 🩺 They visit “cleaning stations” to have parasites removed by fish. 🍼 Females give birth to only one pup after a year-long gestation (pregnancy). Stay tuned for another incredible species tomorrow! 📸 Images thanks to @kogia_org 🎶Song by @joe_samy_official / @s_chlochlo
