Protect the Aldabra Giant Tortoise! (2/3)

🌍 Protect the Aldabra Giant Tortoise!🐢 Assomption Island is a vital haven for over 1,000 Aldabra tortoises, but this incredible ecosystem faces multiple threats if a luxury hotel moves forward. Construction will fragment their habitat, leading to the loss of vital foraging areas and nesting sites. The risk of injury from collisions with construction vehicles and planes landing on the airstrip further endangers this already vulnerable population. And it’s not just tortoises at risk; insufficient and unenforceable biosecurity measures make the introduction of invasive species to the nearby Aldabra Atoll almost impossible to avoid, threatening endemic and still-undescribed species on one of the most pristine islands left in the world. 📢 It’s time to take action! Together, we can preserve the unique biodiversity of Assomption Island and Aldabra Atoll by signing the petition (🔗link in bio) and becoming a #FriendOfAldabra @friendsofaldabra @seychellesatheart ✍️ infographic by youth council members @_daniellea_ & @ellaholbrookk #FriendsOfAldabra #UNESCO #tortoisesofinstagram
