1st Trash Fence, Burning Man, 1995

In 1995, the first trash fence was tested at Burning Man. Concieved by Larry Breed (playa name Ember), 75 yards of 24" high orange netting was set up down-wind on the north side of the encampment to catch wind-blown trash. The Black Rock is visible to the right in the background of this photo. Photographed by Michael Mikel, a Burning Man co-founder, from his historic archive of the event. Contributed by the Burning Man historian; used with permission.
