F-Space: Burning Man 2020 film (1997)

The inception of F-Space Documented in 1997 by a German film crew for the film Burning Man 2020, directed by Christoph Gampl and Andreas Kukutsch. #1 Burning Man, Black Rock Desert, NV 8/28/97 F-Space: Jenerik/Port No PA so Scot and Ethan performed on flaming oil drums next to a piano frame where other friends joined in the percussive mayhem. This is also the show where Scot lit himself on fire, had to do the drop and roll, and while drumming on a flaming oil drum smashed his left index finger, blowing all of the meat out of the tip. The jam went on for another half hour while Scot drummed and spread blood all over his body and face. A fitting beginning for F-Space. #2 Burning Man, Black Rock Desert, NV 8/29/97 F-Space: Jenerik/Port Equilibrium Scot’s composition “Equilibrium” performed on Sub Linear, with Ethan’s noisy guitar wash over and through the piece. Cold and windy as hell. Sub-Linear was mounted between two oil drums that were set on fire. When Scot broke Sub Linear in half at the end of the set, the whole contraption fell off the stage and took a chunk out of photographer Gregory Cowley’s arm. This provided Greg with commemorative scarification of the first real F-Space performance. #3 Burning Man, Black Rock Desert, NV 8/31/97 F-Space: Jenerik/Port/ Tch'Kung Other artists: Tch'Kung F-Space performance into Tch'Kung performance into a jam between the two bands. Scot and Ethan improvised on the oil drum version of Sub-Linear. The oil drums made nice big flames when pummeled. Documented by a German film crew for the film Burning Man 2020. It took Scot over 100 strikes to break sub-linear in half. Ethan kept pace with him swinging full force into the oil drums. The audience went Ballistic and can be seen in full Dionysian frenzy in the film.
