First Grand Prix (Le Mans)
1906
June 26-27, 1906. The first race called "Grand Prix" runs at Le Mans organised by the Automobile Club de France. Renault wins. The format eventually replaces the Gordon Bennett Cup and becomes F1's ancestor.
