Phuture - Acid Tracks (original 12-inch)
1987
The full twelve-minute twelve-inch, the record that turned a discontinued Roland bass machine into a genre. DJ Pierre, Spanky and Herb J built it from a secondhand TB-303 they did not know how to use properly; Ron Hardy broke it at the Muzic Box, where the floor emptied on the first play and went off on the fourth, around four in the morning. The bootleg tapes the crowd made, "Ron Hardy's Acid Track", are where the title came from.
