The Forgotten Inferno: Summerland Fire Disaster That Killed 50 in Minutes (1973)
2026
A documentary on the Summerland fire of 2 August 1973 at Douglas (Doolish). Fifty people died and about eighty were seriously injured when the leisure centre burned during the summer season. The figure was arrived at slowly: the fire brigade first recorded 51, revised it to 48, and two more people later died in hospital, which is why other tolls still circulate.
