Schoolchildren work on the Knockaloe Letters Project. Knockaloe Camp, at Knockaloe Farm in the parish of Patrick near Peel (Purt ny hInshey), opened in November 1914 and held around 23,000 internees with some 3,000 guards, on an island whose whole population was then about 50,000.
