The top of the flagpole on Tynwald Hill, photographed from scaffolding erected before Tynwald Day. Tynwald Hill (Cronk y Keeillown) is itself a Norse thing site, the word cognate with Icelandic Thingvellir and Norwegian Tingvoll.
