Le Monde du silence, the feature shot aboard the Calypso in 1954 and 1955. It took the Palme d'Or at Cannes in May 1956 and the Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature in 1957. Louis Malle, then 22, served as cameraman and is credited as co-director; this was his first feature.
