Mercedes W196: The Streamliner That Nearly Blinded Fangio. In 1954, Mercedes-Benz built two versions of the same car — one with exposed wheels, one fully enclosed for minimum drag. Juan Manuel Fangio drove the streamliner at Monza and couldn't see his own front wheels relative to the track. He won the race.
