City Lights turns fifty on Columbus Avenue

The bookstore's fiftieth-anniversary party on the corner of Columbus and Broadway, with Ferlinghetti talking about the early years and reading a poem to the crowd. The shop opened in 1953 with five hundred dollars each from Ferlinghetti and Peter D. Martin.
