Stock footage of the city stopped by the general strike
1934
Unedited archival film of San Francisco during the general strike of July 1934, presented by CriticalPast in the form it survives. The general strike ran from 16 to 19 July, called by the Labor Council after the funeral march for the two men killed on the waterfront. Shuttered shops and emptied streets are the documentary record of a city where only designated services kept running.
