A colour view looking east from the Presidio toward the towers of Nob Hill, with army officers' housing in the foreground. The Presidio was founded by the Spanish army, passed to Mexico, and was taken over by the United States in 1847; it remained the country's longest continuously serving military post until it closed in 1994. The photograph was taken by Roger Wollstadt in May 1966.
