Hen House Studios' portrait of Kenneth Rexroth, the poet, critic and translator generally credited with instigating the San Francisco Renaissance. It was Rexroth who introduced the readers at the 6 Gallery on 7 October 1955, in what an eyewitness recalled as a bow tie and a shabby old coat rather than the dapper suit of legend.
