Schlachthof Stuttgart

Stuttgart’s grand municipal slaughterhouse opened in 1902 and fell silent in 1992 — "the last Oink." In 2010 restaurateur Erika Wilhelmer brought the surviving Jugendstil building back to life as the Schlachthof restaurant, and moved in her record-breaking pig collection: the SchweineMuseum, the largest pig museum in the world. It is the flagship of family-run Wilhelmer Gastronomie — a Stuttgart hospitality dynasty of more than fifty years that also runs AMICI, the AMPULLE beef club, the Speisemeisterei at Schloss Hohenheim, Carls Brauhaus, Berthas at the Mercedes-Benz Museum, and the giant SchwabenWelt tent on the Cannstatter Wasen. This is the story of the building, the pigs, and the empire.

A chronological documentary of 53 moments spanning 1930–2026 on Loreline.
