"November I, 1942 Early this morning our Grummans strafed the Jap seaplane base at Regatta Bay. Our Grummans destroyed approximately 35 Zeros and bombers. One Grumman, #74 (Lt. Young), did not return. We expected Tojo's bombers but they didn't come. Army P-39's strafed and bombed Jap lines. Our boys, 7th & 5th Marines, advanced 10 miles. The Jap Imperial Guards retreated rapidly but we do not have.
