Bomb strike on Choiseul Island in 1944

Smoke rises from the site of an explosion following a bomb drop on a hill behind Choiseul Bay during an attack on a Japanese transit base at Choiseul Bay, Choiseul (Lauru) Island, Solomon Islands. The flight was guided by Sub-Lieutenant Alexander Nicol Anton Waddell, Royal Australian Naval Volunteer Reserve (RANVR), who had been a coastwatcher on the island since October 1942.
