Saylor To $100K In February 2021 the Bitcoin maximalist Twitter account adds red laser eyes to its profile picture as a pledge to keep promoting Bitcoin until it hits $100,000. Michael Saylor leads the charge, joined within weeks by Anthony Pompliano, Nayib Bukele, Tom Brady, and Logan Paul. The aesthetic is borrowed from Cyclops, Magneto, and shitposted anime edits. Applied to Saylor's corporate headshot it is the most aggressively unironic thing in finance Twitter that year. 02. The Pledge That Did Not Cash Bitcoin peaks at $69,000 in November 2021 and falls to $15,000 a year later. $100K does not arrive in the cycle. The laser eyes stay on most accounts well past the bear bottom, an ambient flex of conviction that survives the price action. BTC finally clears $100,000 in December 2024.
