He was documented as away about two hundred and fifty days a year, and this is that number made visible. It also holds the Alsace vineyard where the archive records his death.

He was there filming an episode of Parts Unknown. His death was ruled a suicide. His friend the chef Eric Ripert, who was travelling with him, found him.
