- - Willys CJ - Civilian Jeep. 1945. Willys-Overland ships civilian CJ-2A. Returning GIs buy what they drove in WWII. Founds the entire "recreational off-road" + 4×4 lifestyle category that becomes Land Cruiser, Range Rover, Bronco, G-Wagen.
- - Land Rover Series I. April 30, 1948. Maurice Wilks unveils the Land Rover at Amsterdam Motor Show, British Willys-clone designed on a Welsh beach. Production runs continuously until 2016. Foundation of British 4×4 culture.
