Bali and the wider Indonesian archipelago: Ubud, Canggu, Uluwatu, Nusa Penida, the Campuhan ridge. The second most common place in the archive after the islands, and the one that overlaps most with the years he was working out what he wanted to do.

- - Bali should be next on the calendar. "Moped missions got me feelin' like Bali should be next on the calendar. Who's gonna be in Indonesia from November onwards?" He left Cocos for Bali the following month.
- - Flying to Bali. "Flying over cotton candy on the way to the land of the god's." He spent the following month in Indonesia with a travel group called Find Your Pack.
- - Ubud has no surf but the forest makes up for it. "Ubud may not have any surf but the forest views sure do make up for it." He writes about visiting Bali Swing and says he wanted people to know it creates local jobs and donates a share of profits, adding that the post was not sponsored.

- - Mount Agung during the eruption. "After a cancelled flight I had the chance to drive north a bit and take a closer look at Mt Agung in all its glory. Nature in its purest form really is incredible, but also terrifying for the people living nearby." He asks followers to donate to Bali charities. The volcano was erupting at the time and closing the airport.
- - Uluwatu cliffs at sunset. "What a great way to finish up one of our last outings with @findyourpack last week. Uluwatu views are some of the best." He says the group gave him his first friends and month of living abroad.
- - An abandoned plane in Bali. "Stumbled across an abandoned plane in Bali. I've seen a couple photos of this place before and it was pretty epic to see it for myself. Shame we weren't allowed down the cliff for some even better shots."

- - Ten days on a scooter around Bali with his brother. "One of our younger brothers finished high school this month and instead of heading off to party with his friends, we posed the idea of a scooter trip around remote Bali with (almost) no technology. We gave ourselves 10 days and in true Howitt fashion, absolutely no plan." He describes his brother Kit's first time driving a scooter, stomach bugs, and shared sweaty bedrooms, and ends: "Life moves fast when you're not paying attention."
