Following our meeting on Monday, President Herminie has committed to a comprehensive one-year biodiversity assessment for Assomption Island. The results of this assessment will inform future decisions for the Island - including what happens to the Stop Notice. This marks major progress: for Assomption, for Aldabra and for Seychelles. It feels like an incredibly meaningful moment. Protecting what makes our islands exceptional requires time, science and courage! 🌟🌟🌟 Friends of Aldabra has shared their vision for a best-in-class biodiversity assessment with the Government of the Seychelles. In her interview with @sbc.sc, @victoria_duthil stated “In order for this biodiversity assessment to be done properly and for the trust of Seychellois people and for the international community to be regained, a proper biodiversity assessment has to be done for at least a year.” We remain very much alert, but also incredibly hopeful. 🐠🦋🐋🐢🦈🐬🦀🦎🪸🐚 #ProtectAssomption #ProtectAldabra #Seychelles
