A terrifying pattern of destruction is happening across Seychelles. 🚧 Aldabra Atoll, a UNESCO World Heritage site, has been under severe threat from a 6* Qatari-funded luxury development. We’ve been campaigning for 2 years to protect this area, and 2 weeks ago a national investigation revealed that members of the Seychelles government intervened, helping override due process, influence independent authorities and accelerate permits to allow the construction to move forward quickly. Now - on Police Bay, Mahé - conversations are underway for another luxury hotel development, which would privatise one of the last remaining wild places Seychellois can go to enjoy their natural heritage. It’s begs the question, who are the Seychelles government serving with these decisions? How many hotels does Seychelles really need? And is it worth sacrificing every last piece of wilderness for it? When will we draw the line…when there is nothing left to protect?
