Last week, the Ministry of Environment announced a new Task Force to oversee environmental action on Assomption Island. At Friends of Aldabra, we welcome this step, it’s something we formally proposed to President Herminie in December. But we also have serious concerns about the structure and membership of this Task Force. The same institutions that allowed this crisis to unfold are now being asked to investigate and fix it. That raises real questions about independence, accountability and conflicts of interest. ⚠️🔍🏛️ ✉️ We have formally written to the Ministry of Environment to express these concerns and to call for broader representation - including civil society, independent NGOs and Seychellois scientists and experts. Seychellois deserve a Task Force they can trust. What do YOU think? Share your thoughts below. #ProtectAssomption #ProtectAldabra #Seychelles
