A green sea turtle glides through Aldabra’s protected waters. Once hunted nearly to extinction, these gentle giants now flourish on the atoll’s seagrass beds thanks to 50+ years of strict protection. Aldabra is home to one of the Indian Ocean’s largest congregations of nesting green turtles and serves as critical habitat for hawksbill turtles too.
