India and Seychelles Sign the Assumption Island Deal

An agreement to build Indian military facilities, including an airstrip, on Assumption Island — 27 km from Aldabra — was signed during Narendra Modi's visit to Seychelles. Conservationists immediately warned about biosecurity and disturbance risk to the World Heritage site next door. It is the first time Assumption becomes the fight.
