These days I’m playing Jaques, an exiled nobleman in Shakespeare’s As You Like It, in the adaptation by @xplutarco and @j0dis Forced to leave his homeland, Jaques finds refuge in a foreign land. In time, that place becomes a home—but never quite the home. I think that’s something many immigrants understand. No matter how old you are when you leave, a part of you will always remain somewhere in between. Between two countries. Two cultures. Belonging to both, and completely to neither. His melancholy reaches its deepest point when Rosalind tells him: “I bet you’ve left your own land to see someone else’s. Seeing so much without ever truly belonging anywhere gives you rich eyes, but poor hands.”
