🇦🇱🦩Today marks Day 25 of the peaceful civic movement that has united thousands upon thousands of Albanians across Albania and throughout the Albanian diaspora around the world in defense of the Vjosa–Narta Protected Landscape and Albania’s protected natural heritage. Members of the European Parliament voted to call on the Albanian government to repeal the controversial changes to the Protected Areas Law and to suspend new developments in protected areas until the legislation is brought into line with European environmental standards. This represents an important step in recognizing the concerns raised by citizens, environmental organizations, scientists, and communities across Albania. The Narta Lagoon is one of Albania’s most treasured ecosystems, home to thousands of flamingos and countless protected species. Its protection is not only an environmental issue—it is a matter of national heritage, public trust, and responsibility to future generations. From Connecticut, we stand in solidarity with all those peacefully advocating for transparency, accountability, public participation, and the protection of Albania’s natural treasures. 🇦🇱 Narta belongs to all Albanians. 🦩 Protected lands must remain protected. 🌍 The voice of Albanians at home and across the diaspora matters. 📍 Library Park, Waterbury, CT 📅 28 Qershor 2026 🕑 2:00 PM – 5:00 PM #HandsoffVjosaNarta #FlamingoRevolution #Albania
