Many of the coastlines we clean are far removed from any town or village, quiet, wild places where the only signs of life are are seabirds, whales, and the rhythm of the waves. Yet even in these untouched landscapes, human presence is everywhere. The things we use every day don’t simply disappear once we throw them away. A significant amount ends up in landfills, drifts into the ocean, or washes ashore thousands of kilometres from where it was first used.
