Navy hospital corpsmen drilling with stretchers on Angel Island

A Hospital Corps company at the Naval Training Station on Angel Island practises unloading litters, two bearers to a stretcher. The station trained medical personnel for the fleet during the First World War, and the drill rehearsed moving wounded men off ships and ambulances. The photograph was made by Mrs C. R. Miller and is held by the National Archives.
