A book illustration of a Native American bowman carrying a fur quiver, printed in the 1897 Cincinnati edition of John Clark Ridpath's Universal History. The surrounding text discusses the Shoshone and neighbouring peoples, and the plate derives from the work of Louis Choris, the artist who drew Ohlone people around San Francisco Bay during the Rurik expedition. The engraving is a nineteenth-century rendering, not a document made from life.
