A Chinatown restaurant illustrated for railroad tourists

The plate comes from To California and back, a guidebook published in 1897 by the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railroad to sell rail travel west. Its Chinatown chapter walks readers through fortune-telling with joss sticks and the quarter's eating houses, treating the neighbourhood as a tourist attraction.
