Titled 'The Sluice', this Henry Sandham illustration shows crews running water and gravel down a wooden trough so that gold settles behind the riffles. It appeared in The Century illustrated monthly magazine in January 1883, part of a set on gold-rush mining methods. The Library of Congress holds the print.
