Triple T

Triple T, properly Tung Tung Tung Sahur: an AI-generated wooden drum creature posted to TikTok one day before Ramadan began in Indonesia, which went past 135 million views and became the most recognisable character of the brainrot era. From the real pre-dawn wake-up rounds it parodies, through its creator's daily anomali feed, to Fortnite, a Roblox licensing fight and a Ramadan sequel a year later.

A chronological documentary of 134 moments spanning 2013–2026 on Loreline.

  1. - A communal sahur gathering. A group meal eaten together before dawn during Ramadan, photographed in Indonesia in July 2013 and released under a Creative Commons licence. Sahur is the pre-dawn meal Muslims eat before the day's fast begins at fajr, observed by hundreds of millions of people every year. The photograph predates the meme named after it by twelve years.
  2. - Gendang sahur in Gorontalo. Hundreds of young people in Talomolo, Gorontalo hold their gendang sahur round with bamboo kentongan during Ramadan 1440 H.
  3. - Patrol music in Jember. KOMPAS TV reports on musik patrol in Jember, East Java, where the kentongan is played alongside flute and kendang to wake residents for sahur.
  4. - A kentongan seller in Kebumen. Wooden kentongan offered for sale in Kebumen, Central Java, photographed in June 2023. A kentongan is a slit drum, a hollowed log or bamboo tube with a vertical slit, struck with a wooden club so a signal carries across a village. This is the object the Tung Tung Tung Sahur character is carved from, recorded two years before anyone made the meme.
  5. - The slit drum behind the wake-up call. A short piece on the kentongan used for sahur rounds, and its long service in Indonesia as a signalling instrument well beyond Ramadan.
  6. - Papapipupapipa, Five Days Out. One of the AI 'anomali' creatures the creator was posting almost daily in late February 2025, captioned 'ini asli' - 'this is real'. The record puts it past 12 million views. It is context for the breakthrough that followed, not a character in its own right.
  7. - Garam dan Madu, the Run-Up's Biggest Hit. Three days before Tung Tung Tung Sahur, the same daily practice produced this 'salt and honey' anomali, captioned 'hati hati' - 'be careful' - the phrase that would also caption the original. The record puts it past 52 million views. Context for the breakthrough rather than a character in its own right.
  8. - Tob Tobi Tob, Two Days Out. 'kisah tob tobitob tobtobi' - 'the tale of Tob Tobi Tob'. Another entry in the near-daily run of AI creatures immediately preceding the breakthrough; the record puts it past 12 million views.
  9. - Potatuna, the Day Before. Posted the day before Tung Tung Tung Sahur and captioned 'Dongeng sebelum tidur' - 'a bedtime story'. The last of the run-up creatures: the practice that produced the breakthrough, not a character in its own right.
  10. - Tung tung tung, an alarm rhythm. A still of the character as it circulated through March 2025. On a real kentongan the rhythm carries the message: a slow beat signals all-clear, a rapid one signals fire, theft or danger. To an Indonesian ear the meme's frantic repeated knocking reads as an alarm rather than a summons, which is a large part of why the joke works.
  11. - The character in full, a carved kentongan. The full-body image, released to the public domain through Wikimedia Commons and credited to @noxaasht. The creature is an anthropomorphic kentongan, the Indonesian wooden slit drum, holding a pentungan, a club. The Commons description makes the point that matters most here: despite the Italian brainrot label, this anomaly comes from Indonesia.
  12. - The original Tung Tung Tung Sahur post. Posted by @noxaasht on 28 February 2025 with the caption 'hati hati', Indonesian for 'be careful', and the tags #tungtungtung #sahurr #brainrot #bismillahfyp. English Wikipedia records that this was one day before Ramadan began in Indonesia: the video went up on the eve of the month whose pre-dawn wake-up rounds it parodies. It has gathered over 135 million views and 7.5 million likes on the record, and its creator is publicly known only as Noxa.
  13. - Don't break your fast again. A CapCut edit captioned 'jangan mokel lagi ye', a warning against secretly breaking the fast, with the character attached. Posted from an account whose captions run in Malay.
  14. - A minute of the sahur chant. A 69-second edit built entirely on the character's repeated chant. The caption is little more than the name itself.
  15. - Tung Tung Tung at the dawn call to prayer. Posted 10 March 2025, in the second week of Ramadan, tying the character to the azan subuh, the dawn call to prayer that closes the sahur window. It gathered over nine million views. This is roughly where the meme stopped being a character and became a seasonal running joke.
  16. - Bombing a house and running off. A five-second cartoon in which the character drops a bomb on a house and runs, per the Indonesian caption. The record puts it past 1.9 million views.
  17. - The character caught in a blast. A follow-up from the same account in which the character ends up the victim of an explosion rather than the one setting it off.
  18. - Asking for Eid money. A Malay-captioned skit built around duit raya, the money handed to children at Eid, with the character doing the asking.
  19. - How to draw Tung Tung Tung Sahur. A drawing tutorial posted 21 March 2025 in reply to a request, which gathered 7.7 million views. Children copying an AI-generated character by hand is the clearest sign it had become folk material rather than a single image file.
  20. - Thanking the Audience That Made It Viral. Three weeks after the original, the creator posts a goodbye and a thank-you to the viewers who made the account go viral. The record puts it past 12 million views.
  21. - The character wants to street-race. 'Tung tung nak rempit jugak', in Malay, the character wants to join the street racers too. The record puts it past 5.6 million views.
  22. - Brr Brr Patapim versus Tung Tung Tung Sahur. A 24 March 2025 matchup edit with over 50 million views. By this point the characters were being staged against each other like a fighting-game roster, with the comments arguing outcomes.
  23. - Asking a Skincare Brand to Endorse Tung Tung. The creator tags Indonesian skincare brand Skintific and asks viewers to help get Tung Tung an endorsement deal - an early, half-joking attempt to turn the character into a commercial property.
  24. - A baby version of the character. A minute-long AI animation of a miniature 'Bambino' take on the character, from an account that makes brainrot mashups.
  25. - Guli Guli Tung Tung. A short Tung Tung crossover built on the 'guli guli' chant of another anomali. The record puts it past 5 million views.
  26. - A 360-degree chase. An early fan experiment that puts the viewer inside a VR panorama and lets the character stalk them. One of the first attempts to rebuild the design as a navigable 3D model.
  27. - A Song for Tung Tung. 'tungtung punya lagu' - 'tung tung has a song'. The creator posts a track and asks viewers to use it to remember the character.
  28. - Braking an RXZ until it blows. Malay caption about the character braking an RXZ, a two-stroke motorcycle with a large following in Malaysia, until it pops.
  29. - Pushing the Tung Tung Song. A second post promoting the Tung Tung song, this time asking viewers to use it to get to know the character.
  30. - School Tomorrow. 'ESOK SEKOLAH' - 'school tomorrow'. Tung Tung turned on the end of the Eid holidays; the record puts it past 18 million views.
  31. - A Chinese Tung Tung. A variant of the character presented as 'chinesse tung', one of a run of regional Tung Tung riffs the creator made in April 2025.
  32. - A Javanese Tung Tung. 'jawa jawa jawa' - the character rendered Javanese, and tagged both Italian and Indonesian. Part of the same run of regional variants.
  33. - The character recast as an assassin. 'Tung Tung Assasino' gives the character an assassin persona, borrowing the naming habit of the wider brainrot cast.
  34. - Crossover with Tankerino Cirontino. An eight-second mashup placing the character alongside another brainrot creation. The caption is thin, mostly emoji.
  35. - A Tung Tung Memecoin. The creator promotes a 'Tungtung coin', pasting a Solana contract address straight into the caption. The record puts it past 10 million views.
  36. - A football-themed spin on the character. 'Vini Tung Tung Braziliano' welds the character to a footballer nickname, aimed at the football corner of the meme audience.
  37. - Bobrito Bandito Versus Tung Tung. A versus video pairing Tung Tung with Bobrito Bandito, with a giveaway promised if the account reached 600,000 followers.
  38. - Garbled retelling of the name. One of two uploads the account made that day playing with deliberately mangled spellings of the chant.
  39. - Matched against Lirili Larila. A minute-long AI animation billed as Lirili Larila versus 'Brother Sahur', the English nickname the character picked up outside Indonesia. The record puts it past 1.5 million views.
  40. - The state zakat agency uses the character. A public-information poster from BAZNAS, the Republic of Indonesia's national zakat agency, dated 22 April 2025, using Tung Tung Tung Sahur to encourage the six days of voluntary fasting in Shawwal that follow Ramadan. Eight weeks after the original TikTok, a state religious body was using the character in earnest, and the poster sits in the public domain because a machine drew the creature on it.
  41. - Matched against Cappuccino Assassino. Another entry in the same account's versus run, this time against the coffee-cup character. The record puts it past 1 million views.

  46. - A skit that ends with police sirens. A cartoon in which the character turns on Ballerina Cappuccina and the police turn up. The violence is drawn, brief and slapstick.
  47. - The brainrot ensemble song. An original song rounding up the brainrot cast with the character among them. The record puts it past 26 million views; the account reposted the track repeatedly through the spring.
  48. - Riding a modified bicycle. In Malay, the character wants a turn on a basikal lajak, the stripped-down bicycle associated with Malaysian street riding.
  49. - The character behind the decks. A remix edit casting the character as a club DJ, part of a run of music-themed uploads from this account.
  50. - The character as a cartoon boss. A nine-second AI-made clip tagged 'cartoonboss'. Beyond the name and the tags the caption says nothing.
  51. - German-tagged clip with a kiwi. A short 3D animation of the character with a kiwi. The tags are German, #TikTokDeutsch, #Lustig, a marker of how far the character had travelled by May.
  52. - Footballer mashup set to phonk. 'Cristiano Tungonaldo' stretches the character's name over a footballer's, run for a full minute against a phonk track.
  53. - Tung Tung Sahur, the Movie?. The creator floats the idea of a Tung Tung Sahur film. The record puts it past 7 million views.
  54. - Fused with another brainrot figure. A crossover edit that merges the character with Tralalero Tralala, from an account posting Italian-brainrot mashups almost daily.
  55. - A studio cartoon retells the legend. The animation studio GameToons builds an invented backstory for the character in hand-drawn form. The plot is fiction, but it marks the point where professional animation shops began making Triple T material.
  56. - The revenge short. A tightly made horror-comedy animation from Horror Skunx built on the character's chant and gait. One of the better-produced fan shorts from its first months.

  61. - A dance label puts out a Tung Tung record. Dutch duo W&W release a commercial Tung Tung Tung Sahur track on their Rave Culture label, moving the sound off TikTok and onto streaming and club release schedules.
  62. - Ratatung, the horror-channel single. The animation channel Horror Skunx built a full song around the character's wooden-drum chant and put it on streaming services. An example of the meme moving from a looped clip into released music.

  68. - Steal a Brainrot on Roblox. A 15 June 2025 clip from Steal a Brainrot, the Roblox game released a month earlier in which players collect brainrot characters and steal each other's. This is where the meme became property: Tung Tung Tung Sahur was pulled from the game in September 2025 after a licensing dispute involving its creator and a Paris-based agency, restored that November, and removed again in 2026.
  69. - What sahur actually means. A short explanation of the phrase behind the meme. Sahur is the meal eaten before dawn during Ramadan, and the drumming is the neighbourhood wake-up round that calls people to it.
  70. - A horror take on the wooden figure. A darker reading of the character, tagged as a haunted wooden puppet rather than a comic one. The caption is nothing but tags.
  71. - Tracing the wooden figure to a Thai ad. An Indonesian channel argues the AI-generated Tung Tung Tung Sahur character borrows from an older Thai wood-treatment commercial, on the reasoning that image models recombine pictures already online. The claim is circumstantial and the original ad is not dated here.
  72. - Garena Reaches Out. 'Akhirnya bisa ngobrol langsung, thanks Garena udah reachout' - 'finally able to talk directly, thanks to Garena for reaching out.' Noxa had objected to the unauthorised use of a similar character in Garena's Free Fire; here the creator says the publisher made contact and the two sides could speak.
