Prague's house-signs read as an alchemical map

Before street numbers, Prague's houses were known by carved and painted signs — and along Nerudová Street and Celetná they form an alchemical sequence: the Black Sun (nigredo), the White Peacock, the Golden Lion, the Three Fiddles. Read in order, the city's façades spell out the stages of the Great Work.
