Police fire tear gas at strikers on the waterfront

Stock-footage transfer of 1934 film shot at the Port of San Francisco during the West Coast waterfront strike. Police in gas masks use tear gas and drawn guns against longshoremen on the Embarcadero. This is the repression that preceded Governor Frank Merriam ordering the National Guard onto the waterfront on the evening of 5 July.
