Immigration Service telegram sent during the waterfront strike
1934
A wire from Commissioner MacCormack to the district director of the Immigration and Naturalization Service at Angel Island, dated 22 May 1934, during the San Francisco maritime and general strike. It belongs to the INS file on labour leader Harry Bridges, an Australian immigrant whom the service twice tried and failed to deport over alleged Communist Party ties. Held by the National Archives.
