@sif_seychelles has confirmed that the 5.5 km water pipe that was blocking critical sea turtle nesting habitat on Assomption’s beach crest has now been removed. The presence of the pipe broke environmental guidelines for the development. This has been just one of many signals that this development has failed to prioritise environmental protection and conservation. Care and respect for nature seem to be foreign concepts for the developers. Still, we should still take a moment to celebrate this win. This hope is needed after a week of difficult news suggesting hotel construction on Assomption could move forward sooner than expected.
