For everyone new here: for 2 years, @unesco has been silent in the face of the destruction of one of their World Heritage sites. (Have a look at our recent posts for more information!) We have been reaching out to them again and again, asking them to speak out, to take action, to do ANYTHING to support our efforts. This week, @unesco are meeting in Busan, South Korea for their annual World Heritage committee meeting, where they will discuss new sites to be added to the World Heritage list, and the status of their existing sites. We wrote to them asking to add Aldabra to their agenda. They refused. Their exact words “Aldabra Atoll….will not be part of the committee’s agenda.” They offered no explanation. ‼️ WHY? This week, we’re demanding better. Seychelles deserves it. 🇸🇨 TAKE ACTION: Let’s keep the pressure on with @chilli.app. 🌶️ Comment below and we’ll DM you a link to make a real difference. Stay tuned for more! #ProtectAldabra #ProtectAssomption #ProtectSeychelles
