Rosal de la Frontera, the next village north of Santa Bárbara on the Portuguese border, becomes a key crossing point for the cured-ham trade. The local jamón serrano is still produced from acorn-fed Iberian pigs roaming the same dehesa as Portuguese pata-negra pigs across the border.
