Fernando III takes Seville

Fernando III of Castile takes Seville on 23 November 1248. The Guadalquivir valley and most of western Andalusia pass to Castilian rule within a decade. The Andévalo, sparsely populated after the long reconquest, becomes empty borderland in need of resettlement.
