A survey of luring, the practice of tricking players into losing their items, traced from RuneScape Classic through to Old School and the specific tricks used in each era. It explains how the scams worked and why the game's rules kept having to change around them. Luring shaped both player behaviour and Jagex's design decisions for decades.
