A survey of what player killing was actually like in the earliest years of RuneScape Classic, from the period before the Wilderness existed through the era when the rune two-handed sword dominated melee fights. It collects details about the early combat meta that are otherwise scattered across old forum posts. The Wilderness grew out of exactly this period.
