People stand in the wet on a route strewn with litter as the rain sets in. Heavy rain had been forecast from 15:00 and the start was brought forward by a quarter of an hour; the downpour finally arrived around 19:00. A minute's silence was held at 17:00 for the 21 people killed at the Loveparade disaster in Duisburg three weeks earlier.
