Isaac Newton — the secret alchemist

Isaac Newton left over a million words of alchemical manuscripts — more than he wrote on physics. In his Cambridge laboratory he searched for the Philosophers' Stone and the "vegetable" force animating matter. Keynes, who bought the papers, called him "the last of the magicians."
