Bulldozers and excavators were withdrawn from the construction site of a billion-dollar resort

Bulldozers and excavators were withdrawn from the construction site of a billion-dollar resort development in Albania after protesters rejected plans for the Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump-backed project. Activists dubbed the weeklong movement against the construction as the "Flamingo Revolution," and say wildlife in the Vjosa-Narta protected zone will be destroyed if the project goes ahead. However, Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama, who has led the country since 2013, has insisted the project will go ahead despite rising public pressure and has championed it as a potential economic boon for the country, which has one of the lowest GDP per capita rates in Europe.
