Cartoon of a gold hunter buried under useless equipment

A satirical print from the gold mania of 1848 and 1849, showing a prospector loaded with every conceivable appliance, most of it worthless in California. The figure regrets not having taken his grandmother's advice to sail around the Horn or cross at Panama instead. The Kellogg and Comstock lithograph is held by the California State Library.
